Norton RFC vs Westbury on Severn RFC
It was a beautiful day for rugby, the sun was shining and the wind was calm. The Warpigs were ready for the double header

Norton got the game underway and kicked the ball high into the bright sun. Westbury caught the ball and the War Pigs were hungry. This hunger setting the tempo for the game.
For the first twenty minutes Norton had Westbury pinned in their own half, with some solid attacking lines and a firm green wall for defence. The high pressure forced Westbury to give away 3 consecutive penalties, resulting in a yellow card. Norton kicked for touch, win the line out, but lose the ball in the resulting play. Turning the ball over, Westbury break through causing Norton’s scrabbling defence to concede a penalty and get carded for the challenge. Westbury’s kick was good, with very little wind. Norton 0-3 Westbury.
Norton restarted the game and again kicked high into the sun. Applying great pressure from the kick James Hanby forced the turn over, collected the ball, and burst through for a break away try. He managed to hold his nerve and turn on the gas to run in from just over halfway. Unfortunately the kick missed. Norton 5-3 Westbury.
Westbury restart kicking to Norton, but tackle to high, giving away another penalty. The pigs hoofed the ball down field, collected from the line out, but knocked the ball on in the following phases. Westbury scrum. A huge shove and a grunt from the pigs forces the Westbury scrum backwards. A clearance kick doesn’t go far and Norton have the line out. A driving maul leads to numbers out wide. Gar Rodgers reloads himself, receives an off load and the Welsh Mountain powers over the line. Try time. The kick is good but just skims the outside of the uprights. Norton 10-3 Westbury.
With their curly tails up, the pigs sniff for more points. Norton attack the try line from another line out but give away a penalty 1m out. Westbury kick clear.

Westbury get the game back underway, Ross gathers the ball and holds himself strong against the chasing Westbury pack. Elliot, from deep, receives the ball and starts running towards Westbury. Like a raging boar, he bursts through 3 tackles, and turns on the gas to run a try in, under the posts, from our own 22. Conversion made. Norton 17-3 Westbury.
Norton were awarded another penalty for Westbury being offside at the breakdown. The kick is some distance but has the power and accuracy to slot between the uprights. Norton 20-3 Westbury.
Westbury were given two yellow cards for two high tackles. Unfortunately Norton could not capitalise in the last quarter of the game. Pinning Westbury in, their 13 man defence stood strong and stopped the pigs from running in any more try’s.
FULL TIME SCORE: Norton 20-3 Westbury.
The result means Norton take 4 points in the league and progress through to the next round of the cup.
